Obama: W.P.A.? (Where da party at?)

In Austin on Friday, the party was at the Obama rally. At the Obama rally, the party was apparently next to the press box -- just outside the dividers that set us apart from the bloggers (I mean, "audience") -- where a guy sparked up a big joint just a few feet from the TV risers. At least, that's where that dude's party was at.

So if any of the 65,000 on-air journalists standing on those risers and reporting live from Auditorium Shores happen to look extraordinarily happy to be there, don't assume it's because they're Obama-worshipping liberal-media-conspiracy types.

It might just be the weed.

So THAT's why Karen has been so ridiculously nice to me this afternoon.

Wha??? I was being nice?! Lapse of judgement on my part.

"It'd be a lot cooler if you did."

Hum...Someone sparking up a joint seems as though it'd be more at home at a Dennis Kucinich rally.

/Did I say that outloud?

I personally didn't have a problem with Bush and his drug past, and I don't with Obama. I'm old enough to have dabbled. However, and you know who you are, if you whined or criticized Bush because he had done a little sump'n-sump'n, don't be a total hypocrite and now vote for Obama. There's already enough hypocrisy in the world...don't add to it!

(Where da party at?)

Would you use 'dialect' like this for a white candidate? Nothing weird about the post itself, but the headline is a little strange.

A race connection hadn't even occurred to me, actually. It's an old expression used by hipster friends for a long time (hipsters in Austin? What?). First time I used it on the blog was on election day, asking where the political parties were having their, um, parties. All three parties, that is. None were all that rockin, for the record.

Chip,
The point I think you're missing is that many people don't have a problem with Bush's drug use (because they would be hypocrites if they did) but rather with the fact that he wouldn't own up to it. Clinton had similar issues, though he likely just lied about it, rather than not addressing the issue altogether. Its refreshing to see someone address the issue honestly.
