Good reason to get up early
Finally! I'm at the Capitol for the first time this session, covering a Senate higher ed hearing. Lawmakers must eat their Wheaties bright and early, because the most colorful quote so far came from Sen. Tommy Williams before 8 a.m., on the oh-so-popular move in 2003 to let colleges set their own prices:
“This is like crack for the universities. They just can’t seem to get enough of these tuition increases," Williams said, as the audience laughed.
I'm sure the universities are eager to respond later today, when the hearing resumes. I'm waiting for the first cheese reference.
