And we've come full circle

Throw Democrat Senfronia Thompson of Houston's stylish hat into the ring.

She was the first state rep to start the rumbling last summer when she filed her candidacy for speaker for this session - touching off the race that wound up captivating the entire Pink Dome on opening day, even though she was no longer a candidate by then. She started the momentum.

Ms. Thompson filed for speaker for the 81st session this morning, declining to join the army of male Republicans vying for a spot that may or may not open up this session.

Yeah, good question. Why AREN'T there any Republican women's names being tossed around in this ever-growing race for the speakership?

Right now it's just a bunch of dudes.

Have you ever considered that other women, Dem or GOP, may not WANT to run? Why do you even look at things this way? Other women are no more proxies for your goals than are other people who happened to be named Brooks.

Anna Mowery for speaker!

Debbie Riddle for speaker!

Linda Harper-Brown for speaker!

Betty Brown for speaker!

Jody Laubenberg for speaker!

How's that for tossing names around?

How about Karen Brooks for speaker, it's her house, she's on the floor as much as anybody,(doing the worm) and can pronounce author.

Lefty: And *that's* all I'm sayin...

Robert: Please, for the love of God, find a sense of humor.

And for the record, I *didn't* in fact say that they all wanted to run.

This knee-jerk defensiveness of yours is unhealthy for you and extremely tiring for the rest of us.
