"Members, This Is Just A Simple Bill..."

The freshman House members just passed a resolution honoring the senior ones for helping them through their first session. The resolution included a list of the top six all-too-common phrases for pushing a bill through -- lines we hear down here on a daily basis:
1) "It's just a simple bill."
2) "It's a technical cleanup."
3) "It's for the children."
4) "This is the bill we heard yesterday."
5) "This is about good government."
6) "We are not advised."

They also referred to the process of tacking on amendments to bills as "Extreme Makeover, Legislative Edition."
