Re-regulate this!
It's 11:21 a.m. on the last Tuesday of the session. Do you know where your tuition re-regulation bills are?
Nowhere, that's where. Barring a last-minute legislative act of God, the many attempts to freeze or restrict tuition increases at public colleges are dead, just like last session. Break out the trumpets, it's time to play "Taps."
And speaking of "Taps," both chambers did pass a bill to give students a $25 break on college tuition for every time they play it at a military funeral. Don't complain, kids, it may be the only tuition relief you get.

I may have missed seeing your name in the paper, so I have to ask: is "Holly Hacker" someone's real name? If it is, it's wonderful, because it is a very "blogger friendly" name, ending in "Hacker" and all.
If not, then congrats, because *someone at Belo* (Karen Brooks, was it you?) thought of a pseudonym that actually makes you wonder: is this real or not?
And, if it is, my appologies. I just don't recall seeing the byline before online or in print (aside from the blog).

Yup, it's my real name. It confuses some people, because I've received mail addressed to "Holly Hatchet" and "Holly Hooker" before.
I cover higher ed from Dallas, and I make occasional appearances on this blog - sort of like Charo on the Love Boat, but without the maracas.

Annex, I wish it were true.
But *sigh* - Holly isn't *officially* allowed to post here, so apparently her name is extra fitting.
Hooker, get your booty to Austin. You're missing the party.
