SuperBowl 2011: The one that got away
A bunch of Tarrant County lawmakers just gathered around the front mic on the House floor and cheered the news that the Super Bowl will come to the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in .... Arlington.
Ouch, Dallas, that's gotta hurt.
That would be Rep. Paula Hightower Pierson's district. Not Rep. Terri Hodge's district, where it was originally going to be - until a, in her words, "short-sighted" mayor and county judge lost the DALLAS COWBOY STADIUM to ARLINGTON. Her words. Just being clear.
Anyway, Hodge just got up to the mic and blasted the mayor just before congratulating the triumphant Tarrant County district.

Being called incompetent by Terri Hodge is like being called ugly by a possum. Arlington saw an opportunity and took it. No matter what the mayor and council did it was a no-win. Danged it you do and darned if you don't. Having seen Ms. Hodge work and having testified before her sub-committee, I can tell you that she is not one to complain about anyone else's competence.
